ON-LINE COURSES
Together with the Fonte Aretusa Association, we organise weekly on-line courses in Ancient Greek for Philosophers during the academic year (October to March/April) with a particular focus on Plato.
There are two levels of grammar classes – Beginning and Intermediate – and a reading group which reads a Plato dialogue in the original Greek, translates and discusses the text.
RESIDENTIAL COURSES
Every year we run two residential courses in Greek for Philosophers.
The Winter Workshop runs for one week in early January and focuses on one book of the Republic.
The Siracusa Summer Seminar includes two levels of grammar classes – Beginning and Intermediate – and a reading group which reads a Plato dialogue in the original Greek, translates and discusses the text.
SGSIE
The Survivor’s Guide to Stable Isotope Ecology is a residential workshop held annually or biennially.
Stable isotopes are a powerful and ubiquitous tool in modern ecology; when used correctly, they can unlock the mysteries of food-webs, species interactions, ecophysiology, and migration patterns across the globe. However, incorrect use can result in expensively compiled, useless datasets. This course will give you the skills to maximise the benefit of the use of stable isotopes in your current or future research.
The workshop is tailored to postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers with some or no experience.
