University drama tutor and practitioner Hilary Thomson invites you to a fabulous week of drama exploration in the stunningly beautiful location of Syracuse (think Venice without the canals!) at the EXEDRA Mediterranean Center. In an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere, you will be able to observe the classical Italian surroundings of this beautiful and romantic city and then bring it to life in the drama workshops.
Don’t wait to apply – places are limited and the deadline for application is June 30th 2019.
If you are a keen actor or just curious to try something new, this is the perfect course for you.
This unique course has been specifically designed to give you a chance to explore the acting process through voice, improvisation, script work, character building and theatre devising. We will take our lead from this historic town rich in churches, palaces and squares, and discover the essence of Siracusa, its people, culture, history and traditions. This week will be a feast for the senses, as we soak up the atmosphere and immerse ourselves in Italian culture and Sicilian life around us.
Hilary Thomson, teaches drama at UEA and Theatre Royal, Norwich, UK

The lessons will be held in English at Palazzo Francica Nava, home to the Exedra Associazione Culturale, via S. Landolina 5, Siracusa, at the heart of beautiful Ortigia. This gothic palazzo, rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake in baroque style, has large rooms for classes and workshops, a small library and wifi in all teaching areas.
Students will be housed in B&Bs within walking distance of the center in historic houses, with shared rooms with en-suite bathrooms, and wifi.
